Best weather, a beautiful view and lots of refreshing drinks – that was our summer party this year at the beautiful Rhine.
It was a special day and not only because it was especially warm. Because our summer party began with a guided tour of the Benedictine Abbey of Saint Hildegard – a monastery which is located in the middle of the vineyards above the town of Rüdesheim on the Rhine and offers a beautiful view of the surrounding area. There we were not only allowed to get an insight into the life of the monastery, but also into the wine cellar. In fact, the sisters of the monastery run a monastery vineyard where the grapes Riesling and Pinot Noir grow. Most fascinating: the wine cellar has a barrel storage capacity of 70 thousand liters, no wonder with a vineyard area of over 7 hectares! With so much information in our luggage and a drop or two of wine in us, we went on a little hike towards the restaurant. There we were welcomed with cold refreshing drinks and so we laughed, danced and of course ate delicious until late in the evening! Well and if they do not dance anymore, they continue to work today and still reminisce about a beautiful summer party at the house of Sommer 🙂
