Food production but make it sustainable

The Association of Organic Food Producers e.V. (AÖL) celebrates its 30th anniversary this year and we would like to congratulate them! As a long-time member, we would like to network with other producers and learn from each other. We would like to pass this knowledge on to you.

Sustainability in the food industry means that people can eat healthily and safely. This includes ecologically oriented agriculture that preserves biodiversity and minimizes the impact on natural resources. It includes a food industry that produces a wide variety of high-quality foods from organic raw materials while avoiding additives as much as possible. And it includes companies that operate in a fair and socially responsible manner.

Organic food producers have already started on this more sustainable path. Yet for organic, too, the journey is the destination: there is still room for improvement, as shown, for example, by the wages of many employees or the dilemma between resource efficiency and biodiversity protection. But the industry is working intensively on the decisive adjusting screws for the necessary ecological transformation of the (food) economy.
